Historical Detail - John Franklin Stratton was an experienced Trombonists, Violinist and band conductor, was trained as a machinist opened a music store in Hartford NH, In 1859 New York as a retailer, maker and importer. 1864-65 in partnership with J H Foote as Stratton & Foote. Opened a factory in Markneukirchen in 1868 and to Leipzig in 1870 with a workforce of 300. In 1883 sold the German factory. 1889 as Stratton & Son and split with son Frank in 1895.
